Comdata opens a new 420-seat service centre. New employees will work in The Light office building in the Cotroceni area of the capital and will receive Netflix subscriptions as part of their benefits.

Comdata Group, a key player in the outsourcing services sector and owned by the American group Carlyle, will open a new service centre in Bucharest, Romania, where it will employ 420 people. The new division will open in May.

"The plan is that by the end of 2021 we will have created 420 new jobs. The new employees will work in The Light building in the Cotroceni area, where we will occupy two floors. In addition to performance bonuses and other benefits such as meal vouchers, employees will benefit from Regina Maria health insurance, have a subscription to the building's gym and have a free Netflix subscription included in the benefits package”, explained Monica Butea, Head of the Comdata International Division in Romania.

During the coronavirus restrictions, hiring will be done through video interviews, and new employees will work from home. The company is at an early stage of looking for foreign language speakers to start handling the requests received from the customers of an insurance company. The group chose Bucharest for the new service centre, because of the capital’s large talent pool of experienced candidates in the field of outsourcing services (business process outsourcing and shared service centres), both as operators and managers.

In Romania, Comdata Group also operates Comdata Romania, a contact centre division with 2,000 employees in six cities.

Worldwide, Comdata Group - headquartered in Milan - has 50,000 employees in 22 countries and recorded an annual turnover of 1 billion euros in 2018.

Romania has become a favourite destination for service centre investors in the years since the financial crisis of 2008. Lower labour costs compared to the west, good IT infrastructure and the ability of Romanians to speak several languages were among the most important factors for it. Today, more than 130,000 people work in service centres across the country.

Companies in this field are still recruiting, even during a global crisis.
